Q: How do I report my student absent for the day?
A: Please report all absences in the PowerSchool Parent Portal.
Q: How far in advance can I report absences?
A: Absences are limited to a one day advance notice
Q: What do I do if my student will be absent for part of the day?
A: Partial day absences should also be reported using the Powerschool Parent Portal
Q: What if I have issues with the portal/reporting absences?
A: Please email the Attendance Office ([email protected],
[email protected], or [email protected] ) on the morning of the day of absence. Make sure you include your student’s name in the email.
Q: How can I provide doctor’s/dental notes?
A: Notes can be dropped off in the front office or emailed to the Attendance Office ([email protected], [email protected], or [email protected] )
Q: What are Excused Absences vs. Unexcused Absences?
A: Please refer to the California Education Code 48205. All absences, excused or unexcused, count towards a student’s attendance totals (See “Attendance Letters (Emails)” section of this document).
Q: Are Vacations / Travel Excused Absences?
A: Unfortunately, family vacation or travel is not excused – even when you inform your teacher or the office. Please still report the absence in the parent portal so that you do not receive the automated phone calls when your student is absent.
Q: How long do I have to clear my student’s absence?
A: Parents have 7 days to clear an absence either by email or note.
